Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure

The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure was held up in Raleigh on Saturday, June 9, 2012.  Runners from all over the triangle area met at Meredith College, the starting point for the race.  Those participating in the race chose to run a 5K (3.1 miles) or walk 1 mile.  There were several opportunities to recognize survivors throughout the morning’s festivities.  According to NBC17.com, there were between 15,000 and 20,000 racers that came out for this event.

VRI’s very own Laura Boyd participated in the 5K on Saturday.  When asked how she felt after the race on Saturday, Laura said “it was a great run through a beautiful neighborhood.  Once I crossed the finish line, I felt accomplished.  What a great way to celebrate survivors and help create awareness!”
