General Information
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) produces detailed images of the body using a magnetic field and radio waves. The MRI scanner identifies protons in the human body and uses them to create an image of internal organs, blood vessels, and tissue. MRI is also capable of looking at how major organs function, such as the brain and heart. Physicians and patients rely on MRI to diagnose a variety of injuries and diseases. MRI scans are considered very safe and there is no radiation involved. The Open MRI unit alleviates concerns for patients who may be larger in size or feel anxious or claustrophobic.
