1. How long does the exam take?

Most ultrasound exams can be completed in 30-45 minutes.

2. When will I receive the results of my ultrasound?

The Radiologist will discuss all breast ultrasound results with you immediately after your scan.    All other ultrasound results will be faxed to your physician within 24 hours. If the ultrasound is a  STAT (urgent) exam, your physician will have the results within 1 hour. 

3.  Can the technologist, interpret the images and provide the results of my ultrasound?

No, the exams are read by a subspecialized Radiologist.  The technologist will not be able to provide you with your results.

4. Is ultrasound dangerous?

Ultrasound is safe, noninvasive, and does not use ionizing radiation
