What is Breast Scintigraphy or Miraluma?

Breast Scintigraphy (Miraluma) is used to detect cancer cells in the breast.  This test may be performed on women who have had an abnormal mammogram or who have dense breast tissue.

  • This exam may be called – Breast Scintimammography, Nuclear Breast Imaging, Mammoscintigraphy.
  • Injection followed by a brief waiting period.  At the designated time, the Technologist will have the patient change into a gown with the opening in the front.  Three images will be taken, one with the patient lying on their back and two with the patient lying on their stomach.  This allows for the imaging of each breast.
  • All positioning for the required images will be performed by a female staff member.
