A Gastric Emptying Study is performed for gastroparesis (slow or lack of movement of food from the stomach), abdominal pain, reflux, nausea, vomiting, surgical assessment.
- This exam may be called – Gastric Emptying, Solid Gastric Emptying. There is also Liquid Gastric Emptying; however, unless specified we perform the Solid Gastric Emptying.
- You will be fed an egg biscuit and a small glass of water (unless you are allergic to eggs).
- You will stand in front of the camera periodically for 1-minute images for up to 90 minutes depending on what is observed as the exam progresses.
